FAYETTEVILLE – Airways Freight Corporation is pleased
to announce that Fred Ramos has joined the company. Ramos has been involved in the
international freight industry for nearly 30 years, spending the last 12 years of
his career as a licensed U.S. Customs Broker. His extensive experience in this field
will be utilized to create a fully licensed Customs Brokerage for Airways Freight,
which will allow increased efficiency, lower costs, and better control of the U.S.
Customs clearance process. Whether cleared in-house, or through the current network
of customs brokers, the additional control gained through the leadership of Fred
Ramos will ensure compliance with Federal Regulations, as well as create a seamless
flow for import shipments. The added benefit for Airways Freight’s clients will
be a direct line of communication to address any Customs challenge, and provide
consultation that will both create savings, and reduce or eliminate service issues
related to clearing goods imported to the U.S.. Ramos’ oversight will ensure that
Customs penalties are avoided due to improper Importer Security Filings (ISF, aka
“10+2”). When needed, a filing for “Binding Rulings” will secure the Harmonized
Tariff Schedule (HTS) number and customs duty rate for importers of certain products
– thereby restricting Customs from demanding additional duties at a later date.
Ramos will work to expand the Customs Brokerage services Airways provides further
through a capability to write Customs bonds for importers, which will serve as a
tool to control costs, as well as a monitoring mechanism for the activity of the
importer while their goods are in the U.S.. Airways Freight Corporation employs
90 people at their headquarters, and has over 250 independent sales agents worldwide.
The corporation was founded in 1980 and is privately held. For more information,
